5 Hair Essentials Every Men Need To Own

There are many hair products and tools in the market with different benefits and use. But the following 5 are the basics or I say essentials to have healthy and great looking hairs for all you guys out there.

1. Hairdryer

HAIRDRYER!?…. yes, a hairdryer is a tool which you definitely need if you want to:

  • Rock the same hairstyle which your favorite celebrity is rocking in that magazine which you follow.
  • cut down the time of your hair drying.
  • Manage your difficult to style hairs.

Basically, hairdryers throw out heat which in return help mold your hairs as per your requirement and thus gives you the option to play with your hairstyle by styling it in different ways. For example- you could have a fringe hairstyle on casual days and sleek back hairstyle on a formal event. Also, you don’t have to carry that boring same look every day.

The key things to look out for are hairdryers with a cool shot button (to take the temperature of the hair back down); and dryers that have a nozzle to direct the air. Don’t worry too much about diffusers or gimmicky attachments. Also, I would say invest in a good hairdryer as it would be for a long period and might be used by the rest of your family on a daily basis.

2.  Styling Brush

A styling brush is the next thing in regards to having that awesome looking hairstyle as it is the brush which

  • help control your hair while blow-drying.
  • provides the direction to your hair.
  • Makes it easy to get particular looks which you might not even achieve in the first place with your fingers.

Using different hair brushes you could achieve different looks.

For example, for a curly look, the round brush is more suitable.

Whereas for a pompadour or high volume look you should go with a vented brush.

But according to me vented brush for men is better as it avoids tugging and pulling of hairs when compared to round brush. Also, it works with short hairs as well.

3. Pre-Styler

A pre-styler is a hair product used before styling (often with a hairdryer). It takes your hair from its natural state to that of something more in line with how you want to style it.

If you have fine or limp hair, you might use a pre-styler for thickening and adding volume; or perhaps your hair is naturally frizzy and you need a product to tame and smooth the hair before you style it.

A pre-styler can be used for the following purposes:

  • To protect your hairs from the heat from the blow-dryer.
  • Tame the hairs by conditioning and smoothing the hair cuticle which is perfect for guys with coarse and wiry hair.
  • Provide volume to hair, provide structure to fine hairs and define curly hairs.
  • To make your hair look thick especially for guys with fine hairs.
  • To add movement and a more rugged finish by providing more texture to your hairs.

But in order to get a perfect pre-styling, you all need to understand your hair type and you need to try and test a few of the products in order to determine the perfect product for you.

4. Post-Styler

So, a post-styler as per the name suggest is the product which is used after the person has styled his hair and wants to lock it down or say wants to add the finishing touch.

There are different type of post-styler like,

  • Hair gel – provides low hold and high shine
  • Hair wax – provides medium hold and medium shine
  • Pomade – medium hold and high shine
  • Clay – high hold and low shine
  • Paste – medium hold and medium shine
  • Cream – low hold and medium shine
  • Hair spray – for locking down the finished look

As per your requirements, you can choose the post-styler.

But there are different products which work both as a pre-styler and a post-styler.

For example, a clay could provide the benefits of a pre-styler by providing the base to your hairs to work on and later on can be used as a post-styler to lock down the finishing look.

5. Hair Oil

Hair oils are as essential as other products and tools for a awesome hairstyle.

As all those product and tools that provide you the perfect hairstyle does damage your hair as blow-dryer throws heat and pre and post-styler uses chemicals (most of them).

So, hairs need something which could revitalize them from the damage there go through every day. Also, hair oils provide following benefits:

  • Stimulates hair growth
  • Combats dry scalp and dandruff
  • Helps prevent and remedy heat and styling damage
  • Adds shine
  • Nourishes hair
  • Prevents oily hair
  • Better for the environment
  • Reduces exposure to chemical and other non-natural ingredients

Following are the oils which are healthy for your hairs :

  • Coconut oil
  • Argon oil
  • Jojoba oil
  • Sweet almond oil
  • Olive oil
  • Grapeseed oil
  • Lavender oil
  • Lemongrass oil

Things to Consider When Using Natural Oil in Your Hair:

  • Use high-quality, minimally processed oils
  • Check out the ingredients
  • Consider your hair type and needs
  • When using essential oils, never apply them directly to the scalp or hair
  • Be sure not to use too much. Since oil is greasy, you should use it sparingly

Here are some of my suggestion:

  • High budget:

  • Medium budget:

  • Low budget:
